Cougar guy(s) have done this. Although it is possible, given the cost and effort required, the common wisdom here is to sell the ATX and buy an MTX.

My thoughts on the subject is that if I ever have major, unrepairable problems with the tranny I have now, I'm going to do the switch the MTX. It's either that or put in an SVT engine plus the MTX tranny. So many ideas...so little money.

I have read several posts from NECO guys saying that it is actually cost effective to do the swap as compared to the purchase of another tour! I don't see how, so until I can see some receipts after a swap is up and running.... I might think about it. It just seems to be too much involved for such a simple purpose.
For now though, believe it or not, I am happy with my ATX. I do hope to purchase a 97 tour in the future and I have only three requirments, 1) MTX-75 2)Duratec 3)the paint must be BLACK! Sounds stupid I know, but I just have this thing for black cars.

I'd have to agree, waste of time and money considering the re-sale value and popularity of these cars isnt exactly the greatest

Well see i can wrecked tour for like 500 bucks. That the motor and tranny is till good in. That would be all the parts i just want to know the difculty. Can i just switch trannies, ECU and wiring harness's or is there any kind of funky fabrication that has to be done.
My thought is just drop the front crossmember with motor and tranny attached and replace with a MTX crossmember then of course ecu's pedals, and wiring.

Subframe has to swap over. The center console as well... I would think.
