Wow! I can't believe I did this!

I've been around since the early days (when we were a "hobby" group on AOL). The Moose has been with us Duratec owners for a long time. I have it cured in the SVT with the Ford parts, but it always came back in the wifes '96. I don't use the TH plug in the '96 as it's an ATX.

So I'm diagnosing the CEL in the '96 (front cat has gone bad, new one on it's way with thanks to Bill Jenkins!) and the moose comes to visit. Knowing where the problem is, I grab the hose feeding the IAC from the intake and give it a pinch....

Moose goes away.

I release the hose...

Moose comes back.

Inspired by who-knows-what, I grab a small hose clamp and put it around the hose feeding the IAC and begin tightening...

I discover that not only can I make the moose go away, I can also "tune" the sound of the moose

I'm gonna leave the hose clamp on there. I'll report back if the noise returns, but the car will be parked while we're on vacation (2 weeks).

Your fix is actually doing the same as the TH fix, by restricting the air flow to the IAC valve. Although with your method the adjustments would be much easier. Just be carefull not to crack the hose.

I always ran the TH fix in my ATX. Between gears the revs fell quicker hence the tranny shifted a tiny bit faster.
