Paul, I just want to commend you. Even with your problems you have never mentioned giving on moddifying your 'tour. In fact you continue to talk about it as much as anyone else on here. Eventually when you figure out the problem, you'll have one of the fastest zetec 'tours out there (if you continue moddifying). Maybe you should get some adjustable cam gears and go from there. Maybe talk to a reputable performance shop or maybe even take your car to one of the schools where they teach people to fix cars and see if they can diagnose it.

Yeah, talk about it.

Actually, I have no plans to have "one of the fastest tours".

then why do you talk about working on an electric "supercharger" w/ alternator cutout, etc. ... i know you could do something coool if you keep on with your thinking and eventually turn it into action.

The electric supercharger idea is a longer term plan, to be carried out if and only if I have the spare time for something completely experimental. I've gotten this far: I've found that Vortech sells bare centrifugal compressors of a suitable size, and I figure it could be powered by a starter motor if it's geared up by a factor of eight or so. Maybe a starter motor fed 24 volts. I would need a heavy duty DC motor controller and a boost pressure sensor, and some homemade electronics to regulate boost pressure according to throttle position. I have no plans to make this an extreme performance mod -- I would not upgrade the engine internals or anything -- it would basically be a proof of concept.

Later still, I plan to get myself a car converted to electric power. No more gasoline.
