It all just depends on how small the particals were. Filters in-tank are really just screens that block bigger chunks that can damage pump, but in-line fuel filter is paper element to block much finer particals. Sometimes running crappy Am/Pm type gas from chessier gas stations can clog filters quicker than if you run nice clean Chevron w/ Techron (for example)
