The title pretty much sums it up. I was just wondering it they are the same. I have a Duratec, but I bet I could easily find a realtively low mile ATX from a punted Zetec.

Don't need one right now, but I was jsut wondering.

just to chime in here as i have some crazy wheels turning in my head right now...

what if you were to rebuilt the cd4e (duratec) with the zetec gearing, and zetec torque convertor... with the torgue convertor being smaller and lighter plus with faster gearing this could help out alot with our cars...

sorry to rant im just really pissed i didnt look into this when doing my tranny rebuild....

Only problem that I can find with this...

Turbine Shaft
Ztec - 8 3/8" Long
Duratec - 9" Long

Pump Shaft
Ztec - 14 1/8" Long
Duratec - 14 7/8" Long

Drive/Driven Sprokets
Ztec - .625 wide 55T/50T
Duratec - .855 wide 55T/54T
Probe, 2.5L Contour 00-up - .625 wide 55T/54T

Carrier/Final Drive
Ztec - 30T Pinion
Duratec - 24T Pinion

...The length of the Turbine & Pump shafts are very different! Since these shafts are different, I am not real sure if it would work. If someone else knows a little more about this... this could be interesting!!!

You can't use the ZETEC Torque Converter on the Duratec.
The differences aren't there just because of the engines.
The differences are there because of the Torque Converter Housing (Bell Housing),
and the physical differences in the Torque Converters.

You still need all of the DURATEC parts if you are planning on mating the CD4E to a DURATEC.
If you want to use a smaller Torque Converter, then you will need to get yourself
a smaller DURATEC Torque Converter.

Gear ratios are probably different because of the different powerbands of the engines.
