OK before I say anything else I want to mention that I am VERY familiar with the common problems attributed to our sunroofs. I had to replace the motor unit a few weeks ago for that exact reason.
Now please bear with me, I?m trying to be thorough to eliminate confusion when reading this post. Today I experienced a new problem.
This morning I opened my sunroof to the tilt position and lowered my widows to cool the car down. A few hours later I began the tedious task of running a 8 AWG wire from my battery to my trunk.
I used the ?common route? witch is from the battery into the wiper motor area via the large rubber grommet near the driver side strut tower. From there I feed it through the square opening, opposed to the rubber grommet, and thru the firewall insulation which exits to the top left of the clutch pedal. Then after that just ran the wire under the carpet on the driver side. It felt like I encountered NO obstructions while fishing the wire through.
Then later on when I left for work (evening shift) I went to open the roof fully but it would not move from the tilt position. It?s VERY hard to tell but I think when I click the switch I hear a very faint click come from the motor unit as well. In any event the motor is not turning. I checked over everything else I could think of and it all works fine. I hand cranked the sunroof shut for now.

What could this be? Could I have hit a sun roof wire when I was working?
Also note that today the temperature was 31C pretty hot. But in my humble opinion if the sun roof does have a temperature over ride switch it had ample time to cool down, and when I removed it this evening it didn?t feel hot at all.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
