i'm currently dismantling my 98 mystiques rear end (drum brakes) and installing the disc brake setup from my 95 mystique. looks like everything will be pretty easy although time consuming, however, i noticed that my 98 has a proportioning valve mounted in the wheelwell whereas the 95 doesnt. i looked around the master cylinder for it but it doesnt seem that the 95 has one, hmmmm. im just curious if anyone knows the answer as to where it is if it has one. and will this cause a problem in either car after im done swapping? as with everything ive done so far, its probably just going to end up being trial and error, but hopefully it'll all work out good since i hate having rear drums on my freakin show car! ford really had to cheeze off on the brakes in 98 eh? damn cost-cutting engineers!

That would be the pressure reducing valve. You need them. You may find a pressure reducing valve somewhere else in the system if you look hard enough on the 95. The 98's with rear disc brakes had them near the rear wheels as well. It uses the same part number for disc or drum, although there is still a different part number if equipped with ABS.

hey, thanks for the "how to". im actually thinking that doing swapping the stuff between the 2 cars wouldnt be wise since it'll take twice as much work than just buying the individual components and just upgrading the the 98 with clean new parts. if i put the 95 stuff on the 98, i have to clean the hell outta the components and paint them so they look good, and i'd be changing the rotors anyway. i think ill just leave the 95 and buy new stuff for the 98...... thanks again!

So the pressure reducing valve is only on cars with rear discs, correct?

no, because my 98 came with one in the back and it has drums.
