I don't care how fast it is, if it's 4 cylinders, I'm not touching it.......I.E Evo, WRX, blah blah blah......I'm not hating on 4-bangers, but it's just not me, no matter how quick. My CSVT fits me perfectly.......American sports sedan, rare, fast, damn good looking, 6 cylinders.......I think the the new Neon is a great car, but its not for me. It is a wonderful car for its class, but I sure wouldn't give up my SVT for one. Anyone else notice how high the rear end is on that thing anyway??

I think it's ugly and small, but I'd drive it....I think the Foci are ugly cars too though, I just don't see what people see in the Foci, but I'd drive it....I just don't see what I see in my car, but I'm driving it!

I have a small problem with this and it may be a little off subject (sorry Z), but I just have to say it....
"Then go buy the damn thing and make it like you want it!"
Isn't that what hotrodding, or modding as we call it today, is all about. The way I look at it, this is the very basis of our existance. The manufacture provides a sporty vehicle. Throws just enough horses under the hood to make your butt stay in the seat and just enough curves and lines on the car so that you don't get bored from looking at it for more then 10 minutes. From this base is which we (the hotrod community) work our magic and makes us hotroders.
And I don't care what you want to call yourself, we all come from the same bread.
Now! This is just my opinion and I mean no disrespect by it, but the statement that you would rather wait and buy a car when the dealer has it avaliable to suit your tastes is just as Ricey as the last time yellow was mention in the same conversation as Honda. And we all know that the word Rice cannot be used in the same sentence as Hotrodding, unless you are speaking of the differences.

What's wrong with that? Bottom line is, its an American car, but I'd drive a European car, so its all good to me.

Not even a pristine 944 Turbo or a Lotus Esprit Turbo???
Like it or not, give Daimler-Chrysler the props for putting out a $20k car that flat out runs like stink on sh!t. Neither Ford or GM will do it.
I think it is ugly. I think it looks cheap. It is still faster than anything I have ever owned, and I have had my share of quick cars.
I wish ALL carmakers will fill that niche with something exciting, but no, most want $30k or more for performance (can't build it without leather and all the options! Gotta make money!) Give credit where credit is due, like it or not.

Okay haters, raise your hand if you driven an SRT-4??? .................................................. ..................... That's what I thought, now raise your hand if you even seen one in real life, looked at the interior, listened to the mufflerless exhaust note, looked under the hood, etc, etc.................................................................... Again that's what I thought. I now own an SRT-4, and I just spent my first $180 on a TurboXS HP DSBC which should put me in the mid 13's. There are several folks over on SRTForums already running mid 13's with 1, yes ONE, $180 mod. Call it what you want.... but I'll show you my tail lights any time. On a side note, I'm embarassed to see some of the comments on this board lately. Being a 'non-contour' owner now. Couple that with owning the car that can hand a boxter S it's ass (making it the mosted hated on car on the block, which is great). All this net hating going on and yet, I've never even had one person say one bad thing to me about it in person. In fact I have at least one person a day ask me 15 questions about it and then want a ride. Deal with it or get something faster if you can't.

I'll be convinced when SRT's have 100K miles and are still reliable. People always talk about "better warranty", I don't care if a Kia comes with a 10 yr/100K mile warranty, I hate when my mode of transportation won't work. Having to take your car into the dealer sucks and is a PITA. I have had zero problems with my SVT, and I love the performance, styling, reliabilty, handling, etc. Yes the Super Neon is faster, uglier IMHO, and cheaper (new to new). When mopar junkies have littered their engines with goodies, and spend more time at the stealership then the track, then who's gonna sing the neon praise. I speak from first hand experiance as my girl had a neon given to her in high school by her dad. This thing drank more oil then gas, and was such a hassle to own I've never thought about a neon since. If the SRT with it's great bang for the buck suddenly became reliable from a long line of horrible neons, then I'll be suprised. More likely, everyone mods out their already unreliable car and we hear rants in a couple months about how the dealer told someone they must have been racing and won't warranty their blown engine...

See... You have to let someone answer for that to be effective. Again that's what I thought.

[Raises Hand]
I didn't get to start it up, but there's a dealer here in KC with a yellow one on the lot that I got to look at. The interior is better than I thought it would be, but the overall aestetic effect the car invokes is YUCK!
In NO way am I knocking the little gem of an engine in it, or the handling abilities the car apparently has. I simply wish Dodge packaged those abilities in something more pleasing to look upon. Another $1K in interior facelifts would have helped, too. The stock wheels aren't really that attractive, either. I could go on for a page nit-picking the car, becuase it's so easy to do. You can tell where corners were cut. I never expected the SRT-4 to be a luxury sedan, but there are a few obvious touches that were left out that shouldn't have been.
Apart from some interior complaints, the only real gripe I've got with it is the skin they chose to wrap it in. Then again, I'm a package person. It's got to fire on all cylinders before I start raving and singing praises...
...otherwise than that, it's a rocket that is going to surprise more than just a few folks on the street and strip.
