u are prolly correct about the pt bruiser...i wsa thinking it was a dodge concept but maybe it was a custom built deal or a one-off
either way, i'd love to see one in the flesh

Supercharged SVT - 290 some odd HP
My Cost: 14k at the high end 10k for car 3k for SC , 1k for labor (yes im highballing it to make my point)
V6 Engine Note is sooo much better than a go-cart I-4. And I have leather seats and no riceboy wing.
Bottom Line- Turbo SVT Focus would blow the wheels off that SRT if it was made.R/T Neon has 150 HP , SVT Focus has 170HP , plus if you add in the dual exaust and give it the same Turbo. Most likely gonna have more HP. But thats just my opinion.

OK based on what I see if you were to have HONDA come out with a turboed civic and it beat the neon you guys would be all over it just like the neon. guess if Kia came out thw an AWD turboed car it would be bad ass too and yes the SVT contour is still a Contour just as the focus SVT is still a focus yes they are faster but it is stil that car other wise they would call it something else

and IF ford does do the turbo on the 2004 SVT like rumor has it you will see all the current focus and SVT focus bashers saying they want one or they just bought one. whcih is why I'm trying to say is just because the neon now comes turboed form the factory it's a great car but before it sucked.

I have a small problem with this and it may be a little off subject (sorry Z), but I just have to say it....
"Then go buy the damn thing and make it like you want it!"
Isn't that what hotrodding, or modding as we call it today, is all about. The way I look at it, this is the very basis of our existance. The manufacture provides a sporty vehicle. Throws just enough horses under the hood to make your butt stay in the seat and just enough curves and lines on the car so that you don't get bored from looking at it for more then 10 minutes. From this base is which we (the hotrod community) work our magic and makes us hotroders.
And I don't care what you want to call yourself, we all come from the same bread.
Now! This is just my opinion and I mean no disrespect by it, but the statement that you would rather wait and buy a car when the dealer has it avaliable to suit your tastes is just as Ricey as the last time yellow was mention in the same conversation as Honda. And we all know that the word Rice cannot be used in the same sentence as Hotrodding, unless you are speaking of the differences.

Which is exactly why it is NOT the "Neon SRT-4" it is just "SRT-4". It's based on the Neon's platform, looks 90% similar to a Neon, but it is not marketed as a souped-up Neon, like the Focus SVT is marketed as a souped-up Focus. It's marketed as a whole new car.
And if Honda or Kia came out with a car that I liked, then yes, I would be all over it. But I doubt it would be a Civic or Sephia, because I don't like their styling. The new Neons look good, and the SRT-4 even better (minus the wing, and the SRT-4 with concept mods even better than that.
And you'll probably find that most of those that like the SRT-4 are not those that thought the Neons sucked in the first place.
They obviously don't suck that bad, they have their own racing circuit or something-another.

Mazda 6, RSX, evo I don't keep up with there stats or price but there quick( cant beat my SVT but thier quick) ...My freind is a dodge man. When the R/T's came out he went and bought one. It's quick..(he can't beat me SVT)but he has gone through 3 trans in 1 year. A fast dodge is still a dodge. Have you seen the new Focus????

The only one of those that would even be close to the SRT-4's 1/4-mile time is the EVO, at about a half second faster.
It's also costs 50% more.
Mazda 6, maybe 1-2 seconds slower, and 30% more. RSX I haven't a clue.
And you must have one hell of an SVT if you can beat a 13.5-second stock EVO.

It's based on the Neon's platform, because that is what it is! A lot of the hardware (engine, tranny, brakes) are different than your average Neon, but alot of the exterior and interior materials are the same. I guess by calling it just the SRT-4 they are trying to deny it's great heritage.
The Neon ACR was definitely pretty fierce on the track, but then as well as now, it still wasn't very competitive in it's class overall, same thing with the current Neon.
I hear everyone saying "it's the quickest new car under 20k" (SRT-4), which indeed it is. That's the only argument ever really made, because that's just about all the car has going for it.
