I just bought a used '99 Contour. It has 25k miles on it but is no longer under manufacturer warranty because it has been longer than 3 years. I was wondering if I could still get the dash replaced performed on my car even though it is no longer under the manufacturer warranty.

Hay Chris. It doesn't matter if it is still under warrenty or not cause it is a recall. Do what I did just call the dealer and ask for service center. I took mine in today to get the dash fixed and the timming looked at cause the edge of the belt is chewed up. The dash repair takes 6hours and it is a kit and not a new dash, Ford won't let them replace the whole dash anymore.

Thanks for the info Brad. I wasn't sure if all recalls would be performed after a car's warranty was up. I thought that it might be safety recalls only.

Oh, since I'm probably getting a my dashed fixed since Ford won't replace the whole dash anymore let me know how your dash turns out.

BTW, You have until 08/02 to have it done. I had mine done in January(I think). Looks better than the old one, but now a soft spot is starting to develop toward the center of the dash. eek 99 Tour w/ 25k...nice find! wink My 2000 has 40+ so far.

I've wondered about soft spots. Mine all the glue under the cover let go. They say they put rivits across end then a strip. I took it in this morning and they called at about 5:30 said it was done, but not enuf time to pick it up. I'll take pic's after I get it home and post them t-morrow.

Great. I look forward to seeing the pics. Mine's developing some dash warp around the air vents. It probably took this long to appear cause the car is always parked inside, and I don't live in a hot climate.

Do dash covers help to keep the dash from warping?

In the picture it doesn't look bad. Why do you think it looks bad?
