Sorry java, but I think you need to be looking for a deal that's fair to everyone involved, not just going for the lowest price for your interests. I don't like the attitude of a "take it or leave it offer", especially when the fair market value is considerably higher than your offer, per dealer502.
I think you should have allowed the dealer to counteroffer, and if it was in the ballpark of $3500, and it passed the test drive and mechanic's inspection, take it and walk away with a deal that's fair and represents good value to everyone.
Since sellers set computer prices, whether it be on sale or retail price, that is not a fair comparison to make.
You can pillage an enemy once, but a customer is an endless resource.
