So what, this guy is the foremost expert on Explorer rollovers and tire delamination? How about you go eduate yourself with repuatable sources (all the info in on the net somewhere) and then let us know what you found.

For the record:
Ford gave Firestone a tire specification (and it didn't say "give us Ranger tires").
Firestone supplied the Wilderness A/T.
The tires weren't correct for the application (and may or may not have really met the spirit and/or letter of the specification - at that level, suppliers self-certify to Ford's spec).
Firestone should have supplied a more appropriate tire.
Ford should have done better on vehicle testing, and allowed for more "factor of safety" when it came to tires being run low on presure in the application. Low pressure is probably about a 5 or 6 in Occurrence in a Failure Modes Effects and Analysis (given the customer base), and tire delamination is certainly a 10 in Severity - that combination is unacceptable.
Both are at fault IMHO (although neither will admit it).
