the way i look at it is, If your seat belt breaks, you dont get mad at the company that made the seat belt, you get mad at the car company that put it in there car's. It seems like firestone fuged up and made a bad tire, But fords dum azz should have tested the tires better, and relize they were sh!tty tires

why in the hell is it ford's responsibility to retest tires that are produced by one of the largest tire nakers in the country??????that doesn't make any sense at all...ford didn't produce the tires, firestone did,so its firestone's responsibility to test THEIR tires and ensure they are safe before supplying ford with them.....and actually if my seatbelt broke i would be mad at the maker of the part not the car company that put them in the car,how is it their fault...

Ok, hold on now. Those damn tires were made during a time when Firestone was having a strike, and the ppl making the tires didn't know how to correctly make them. THAT was what the problem with the tires was. It was NOT Ford's fault that Firestone used untrained ppl to make a very important safety piece. Don't blame Ford for Firestone's mistake. I am sorry, but when YOU buy tires, do you go around testing the set before you buy? No, you rely on the NAME of the tire and HOPE that it's the quality you come to expect from that company.
We have a 94 Explorer that we bought in 97 that came with those tires. Now, I am sure that when we bought the truck, the tires had be changed before Ford took hold of it. So was it Ford's fault that the previous owner bought the bad Firestone tires? No, it was not. That was the previous owner's fault. Nothing ever happened to our tires because my husband is a safer driver. I know that has nothing to do with the tires just coming apart like they did, but still, nothing ever happened.
As for the tire pressure thing, that's bullsh*t. It's the owner's responsibility to check the pressure, not Ford's.
Thing is, with every new car design that comes out, they try to make a better, safer car each time. Problem is, when they are testing out new designs, they cannot test for every single thing that MIGHT happen in the real world. They try though. Unfortunately, sometimes things have to happen in the real world that makes them see there's a potential problem. How else will they know? Obviously the Transportation Authority....or whoever checks vehicles out before they allow them to be sold thought the car was safe enough,, but obviously didn't take into account a police vehicle with a tape machine attached behind the gas tank.
So what do they do now?? Maybe reposition the tape machine away from the tank?? Put the machine in the trunk? Something will be done I am positive. In have every faith in Ford getting the problem fixed....although some here say they have already.......they don't want their customers dying. I have two Ford cars that my kids ride around in everyday. I have plenty of friends who also own Fords. Fords are great. There WILL be problems time to time, but saying Ford should go down for a problem that they were fixing was just plain moronic, as all of Jared's posts.
