My '95 was showing CEL for about a month after I got it. A dealer checkover while it was in for unrelated recall work found an air hose had a split in it that was opening under some certain conditions, and causing problems. Once that was replaced (as well as an earlier decarboning and...

something else), the CEL went away and has almost never come back (once or twice in 6 months' time, clicked off on its own after about 3 minutes).
You can get an OBD1 diagnostic tool for about $20 at Wal-Mart or some auto stores. I got mine when I was seeing the CEL come on, and even if I wasn't the one to fix it, at least I was informed as to what it was and so forth.
