Geeze, I can't believe everyone is crapping on the style for it being boring. You know what happens with cars that have "breakthrough styling" people [censored] about them being ugly (eg. 96 taurus, CTS, Asstek). I think they have a good formula for the car -Clean looks -LS1 -RWD, with IRS -Manual tranny
Nobody else in america really has anything along those lines. The mustang is close but less practical in the backseat etc.

My question is...
HOW DOES THE GTO HANDLE?
Why is this question never asked when debating the car's 'performance'? I understand the car can go fast, big deal, but I want a car that is an allaround performer.
Maybe i'm rushing to conclusion, but judging a book by its cover, I see a bizare, outdated australian muscle car in the tradition of the departed (and for a reason) GM Fbodies fitted with a huge engine. The fact that they arent touting the handling of the car does not bode well in my mind - what makes it better from fitting a mustang 5.0 with some mods, if all it can do is go 0-60 in 5.8? And looks like typical GM crap plastic in the process?

As mentioned above (by myself) it has IRS so I don't think it's going to have the handling of f-body's. The handling has been mostly tuned by Holden (see also above) so I would imagine it would be pretty good, although the car will be a little on the heavy side..

This comming from a guy with a TDI? No, I don't have blinders on and I don't think my SVT is faster than anything. If you actually read the posts, you'd see it wasn't about the performance at all, it was about how unoriginal it's "new" syling" is. Clean-scmean! It looks like another recycled Pontiac turd IMO.
But to be fair, the drivetrain and interior are it's pros. The styling/over all looks of it are it's downfall/cons.

Pete, are you saying the handling on the F-Bodies was poor? Or am I just reading too much into your post?

I never said you did say anything about performance. All I said is that your BITCHING about the GTO, not what you were specifically BITCHING about. Try re-reading MY post. Since you know the GTO will whoop on you like a red headed stepchild, you're pickin on styling as a last resort, so !
