I get an error message across the screen after i insert the disc. I have tried different brands of CD-Rs but nothing seems to work. The SVT plays store bought CD's just fine but not the CD-R's...
Anyone know whats up with that?

Jake,

It's a guess, but try this...

Feel the hub in the center of the CD-R, and feel the hub on a Pre-recorded CD.
Chances are the hub is thinner on the CD-R, and the CD Changer may just not be gripping it.

As long as you are finalizing or closing the Audio CD-R at the time of burn, it should play.

Has the CD CHanger ever been replaced or serviced ?
Have you tried loading a Lens Cleaning CD ?

I just tried some Sony 74min CD-Rs, and they played no problem. Maybe the HU doesn't like 80min CD-Rs?
