When I go over bumps backing up I hear a clunking like something is loose in the front on the drivers side. Maybe a worn out strut? Cuz the car isn't sagging in the front, which it would be if the spring was worn out, I assume.

Ya know, I just put my H&R springs in yesterday and have had an alignment done, and now mine is making a random but often clunking noise. Weird. Had Tires Plus double check to make sure everything was tight and they said yes. I just jacked it up and checked myself that everything was tight, and it is. Like was said, it almost sounds like a strut bottoming out. What's the deal? O3

That really sucks....
OK you need to ask for clarification on that one. "Bad axles or bad CV Joints" The way you can check manually on this one is to take your car and....yes, accelerate and it should make a popping noise but it would sound more like popcorn popping and would be a little pronounced. Second test, drive slow, turn wheels to the right almost to lock and listen, then turn to the left and listen. No stupid doughnut tricks here OKKAAAAAYYYY???? If you hear it then, then yes, you probably have bad CV Joints and it would be easier to replace the entire axle than trying to rebuild it.

Hmmm...wonder if that is it. Maybe the strut's valving is going bad and causing the rattle. The other option would be balljoints and such...
Keep going let us know what the next move is...if you are lurking and have HAD this problem before, chime in and let us know what solved it...

I have noticed that for me it is only at slow to medium speed jarring bumps in the road. It doesn't happen any other time. At this point, for me at least, it is an annoying thing more than a safety thing. I am going to bear with it and see if it disapears when I put the Koni's in in the next couple of months.

My wifes mystique has a creacking coming from one of here A arms and now my contour is clucking when starting from any stand still and going over some bumps. Going to have to check out my A arm now too. I remember reading that the bushings wear out on the A arms.

My popping is only coming from under about 10 mph and and turning the wheels, maybe going over small bumps too. But I only notice it at low speeds as said above. Any thoughts? I think I saw a CV reference, how much would that cost?

New CV's are not cheap. You would want to do the whole axle though...if you only hear a sporattic clunk, thump noise, I wouldn't go to the axle/CV route. I am more inclined to say something in the suspension other than the CV's....BUT..hey at this point we are all stabbing. My issue feels more like a loose suspension component....maybe dealing with the steering or control arms.
Got one for some of ya. If you notice the noise more coming from the back of the car, be sure to make sure your spare tire is bolted down tight or it will make noise...

Try the swaybar endlinks. Turn full lock one way and get behind the wheel with a prybar and move it around. You'll know if thats it.
