I am shopping for a car and the Ford SVT Contour looks like a great one. But, I am also considering the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. One thing that might help me decide, I am 6'4" Am I going to be cramped in the SVT Contour? Or is it roomy enough? The Grand Prix has great room inside, and if someone can answer this question it might save me a special trip to test drive the contour.

Thanks! :-)

buy the Grand Prix for two reasons.
1: Yes you're too tall to be comfortable and the back seat is too cramped for big guys like you.

2: the GTP has a very large interior, where you WILL be able to squeeze everyone in.
Don't get me wrong, SVT's are awesome, but they were poorly designed size wize....

I'm 6'4" and I fit in my Contour just fine. I imagine it'd be an even better fit if I had a power seat and could adjust things a little better. There's several other 6'+ guys on here that have Contours.

The back seat on the Contour is pretty small though, making the driver's side back seat pretty much worthless with my seating position.

Just driving a svt will not be a problem, it will be a little cramed but not to bad, the back is a differnt story. the grand prix is much bigger and there both about the same in performance, so its up to you. i was deciding between the two myself, i dove both, and when it came down to it i wanted a svt.

I was considering the GTP before I puchased my SVT and it had good ergonomics in the drivers seat although I just looked at the coupe. The 4 door GTP doesn't look nearly as smooth as the Coupe or SVT so that was out of the equation for me.

But the SVT seats are highly adjustable and can give the taller guys plenty of room although the leg room for a passenger behind you would be near non-existant so you'd have to move your seat up to accomodate them. Give it a look and post your thoughts after you try them both.

Well heck the grand prix is about the same length as a taurus...so of course it is bigger inside. Doesn't mean that contour can not be comfortable for driver. Contour is about a foot shorter...comparable to Grand Am not Grand Prix.

I am only 5'11...but have fairly long legs (34" inseam) plenty of leg room in front for me. Rear behind me is tight, but teenage kids do sit back there from time to time...

hey FWD!

I am 6'5" and I am not particularly cramped in my SVT. However, I like a snug fit in a sporting car.

NO ONE can sit behind me however. This requires me moving up just too much

I'd take the special trip and see for yourself on the room. I'm 6'2" and I fit fine for 30,000 miles a year.

Everyone fits in a car differently, so try it and see.

The Contour seats 4 adults with reasonable comfort, even behind a seat fully back (unless they like to recline).

My 6'3" monkey but fits just fine!

And Jeb, in the back seat, is 6'4"

He is a little cramped and with a tall person up front there isn't much room in the back!

I am 6'4" and the front seats are surprisingly roomy (more room than several bigger cars) but the back seats are for small kids only if tall adults up front. Myself, my wife (5'5"), and 2 children (4 yrs and 1.5 yrs) in carseats all fit, with one carseat behind my wife and the other in the center.
