It's just a warning sign.
The brushes in the alternator are worn, and need to be replaced soon.
The problem here is that there isn't a Regulator/Brush kit for our Alternators.
It has to be replaced as a whole unit, and from what I've heard,
the axle needs to be pulled to make the necessary clearance for the Alternator removal.

How many miles do you have ?
I've got 82,000 and counting...
