I have two '98 SE's, both 2.5 ATX and both have had bubbling paint and minor rust on the inside lower edges of various doors. I prodded Ford to fix the first, but bought the second one privately, so do not know how they will respond. Has anyone else had the problem? Please advise.

Another reason I like the 1995 tru 1997 tours . On 95-97 tours the doors are sealed around the edges on the inside . The door skin is sealed after it is put on the door when the cars were made . BUT in 1998 and newer tours the door skin area is not sealed and salt and water gets inside the door . I think it is another " discontenting " feature of the newer contours ...... Check your trunk and hood as they are not sealed either . Do a search and you will find some members were sealing the doors on their cars on the 98's +
My 1995 gl has not 1 spot of rust and it lived most of its life in chicago .
In about 5 years there is going to be a lot of rusty 98 + tours on the road !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just be glad that they don't bury your roads in sand like they do here. You can forget rollerblading til July. But I guess I'd rather not have rust than be able to rollerblade.

I moved from South Carolina to Minnesota and look what happened rust on both back doors. I love Minnesota, but the salt is hard on the cars. I 've sanded down the doors and sprayed an undercoating on them maybe it will help for a while. It's too bad I've just about paid the car off.

I have bubbling paint under the hood lid (I believe previous owners removed the insulation from the hood)and trunk lid. Is that anything to worry about?

none here, 95GL that has always been in MN! Gotta love working at a car dealership!!!!!
If you look at almost any car in MN, they always seem to rust at the inside bottom of the doors. No mattter what vehicle it is, except Saturns(but thats a different story).
