I got a P1131 code and i am wondering which sensor it is? If there are a total of 4 sensors how do i know which one to replace? if anyone has an answer i would love to hear it. also does anyone know if this fix keeps the CEL off for good? thanks,
Marty

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1.
This one is the hardest to get to. It's on the rear exhaust manifold between the engine and firewall.
Yes, it should fix it.

fixed my problem, here's how:
You don't have to remove the car to replace the sensor! Here's the how-to.
Bank 1 precat O2 sensor replacement procedure
Tools required: Ramps 7/8 Stubby combination wrench 24inch pry bar Rubber mallet 7mm socket, etc
Procedure: Put car up on ramps
From above: Remove hardware securing coil pack
Slide coil pack toward passenger side of car
Locate and disconnect O2 sensor electrical connector
Push connector and wiring down through exhaust manifold runners, toward the ground
From below: Locate electrical connector
Thread connector through the box end of the 7/8 stubby wrench
Guide the wrench up the wiring harness to the hex-shaped body of the sensor
Position the wrench at the 11 Oclock position (viewed from below) so that the wrench is pointed up through the manifold runners
From above: Locate the wrench
Carefully, place the pry bar on the wrench handle and smack firmly, but carefully with the mallet to break the sensor free
From below: Unscrew and remove the sensor
Install new sensor by hand, snug down with wrench
From above: Reconnect sensor electrical connector
Reinstall coil pack DONT FORGET THE GROUND WIRE
Clear CEL with scan tool or by removing fuse(s)
Total time is about 1 ½ hours Total saving is about $200

From Ford manual:
H40 DTCs P1131, P1132, P1151 AND P1152: UPSTREAM HO2S NOT SWITCHING. DTC P1130: FUEL SYSTEM NOT SWITCHING AT FUEL TRIM (RICH OR LEAN)
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P1131 bank 1 (Cylinder 1) and P1151 bank 2 indicate the fuel/air ratio is correcting rich for an overly lean condition. The HO2S voltage is less than 0.45 volt. DTCs P1132 bank 1 (Cylinder 1) and P1152 bank 2 indicate the fuel/air ratio is correcting lean for an overly rich condition. The HO2S voltage is greater than 0.45 volt.
DTC P1130 and P1150 indicate the fuel control system has reached maximum compensation for a lean or rich condition and the HO2S is not switching.
DTC/HO2S Reference List
-- HO2S-11 = DTCs P1131, P1132 and P1130
-- HO2S-21 = DTCs P1151, P1152 and P1150
Possible causes:
Fuel system
-- Excessive fuel pressure.
-- Leaking fuel injector(s).
-- Leaking fuel pressure regulator.
-- Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel.
-- Contaminated fuel injector(s)
-- Vapor recovery system
Induction system
-- Air leaks after the MAF.
-- Vacuum leaks (vacuum lines and gaskets).
-- Restricted air inlet.
-- PCV system.
-- Improperly seated engine oil dipstick.
EGR System
-- Leaking gasket.
-- Stuck open EGR valve.
-- Leaking diaphragm.
Base engine
-- Oil overfill.
-- Cam timing.
-- Cylinder compression.
-- Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2Ss.
Check intake air system for leaks, obstructions and damage.
Check air cleaner element, air cleaner housing for blockage.
Verify integrity of the PCV system.
Check for vacuum leaks.
Are any of the above concerns present?
Yes
REPAIR as necessary. COMPLETE PCM Reset to clear DTCs.
