Good point, and I agree. The next car I do buy will be along the lines of an upper end Audi or BMW simply for the reasons you listed.
It's the people who place a ton of importance on how much a vehicle cost or in it's name or any other trendy crap. Sorry, my uncle just purchased an H2 for that reason and it burns me up. He got it because it was trendy

Test drive the cars you listed and go from there. I'm sure a few names would fall from the list after the 1st TD and make the choice easier.
