yep stay away from the v6....we just added another mustang to our driveway a '94 gt with 78k on the clock....got it for about the price of a 96-98 v6....we were looking for my wife another car and she just had to have a mustang, and she didn't care if it was a v6 or gt...

we looked at alot of cars, and realized we'd be better off finding a little older gt....which we did...we gave $5500 for this laser red '94 gt with leather and automatic(i know,i know, but its my wife's and she had to have an auto)which was in the same price range as alot of the v6 stangs were priced at....

you'd be better off looking for a 94-95 gt....which looks exactly the same as the 96-98,besides the taillights...you'd be better off finding one of these, than wasting you $$$ on a gutless 96-98 v6....

also check out muscle mustangs and fast fords magazine(even though rara might not reccomend it...lol )you'll find a ton of parts info, and general info....

thanks all, maybe i will have to get into looking for a gt, im not a huge fan of the tail lights from 94-95, but that little of a sacrifice can be managed for a much better car...just to let you know, im not looking for a speed demon of a car, just a nice mustang with some power, im gettin the impression that the v6's are that powerless..am i right? or are you just saying that compared to a gt, its that much worse?? you guys are helping me out a lot!!

really the only problem with the v6 stangs is that they are only 150 horsepower, can't remember the torque...but with the weight of the car,it makes it pretty slow...there are some aftermarket parts available for the 3.8...you could swap in steeper rear end gears, add a k&n,and a dual exhaust,to make it a little faster....but without adding a supercharger(which vortech does make)you won't even come close to competing with even a stock gt...

btw...my wife also prefers the 96-98 taillights, but loves her car so much that it is totally a non issue anymore...

but if you look hard enough you could even possibly find a 96 gt pretty cheap,i've seen them advertised for pretty decent prices....but good luck with whatever you decide to do...but take your time and shop wisely(we did)and you should be able to find just what your looking for(we did)...good luck...

all i know is a newer v6 stang isn't all that fast, granted it'll hold it's own, it's still nothing special. I just can't stand the handling. I get so used to driving my car around, when I ride/drive a mustang it feels uncomfortable unless going straight. Now maybe if you find somebody selling a v6 stang that already has some suspension mods, then it would be ok.
