I took the family out ot dinner last night and on the way home I had to get on the gas at about 50 MPH or so to get up to speed faster merging onto the freeway. The ATX promptly downshifted to 2nd I assume and then about 5500 RPM or so is felt like the car was standing against a rev limiter. I lifted a little off the gas, the car upshifted and I was off.
WTF was that?!?!?!?
I can't duplicate the problem when driving by myself so I'm assuming it only does it under load. I had 3 adults, 2 kids, and a half tank of gas in the car when it acted up.
Is this a sign of something bad coming in the tranny department? I plan on changing the fluid soon (last service was at 45k miles, by the previous owner). I'm looking at 67k on the odometer now.
Other than that wierdity, the car seems to be driving fine. Any suggestions?
Oh, BTW - what's up with the rev limiter at 4500 or so when free revving? I was checking out the exhaust note and I quickly ran into this rev limiter. The engine bouncing off this limiter sounds exactly like the car did when It was acting up on the freeway merge. This has me spooked into thinking the tranny was slipping causing the rev limiter to kick in

. I hope not!
Thanks,
Shawn
