Sorry about your problem... but I am just wondering, what was the car in the shop for to begin with. You might have told us when we were in HSV, but I don't remember. All I remember is you were telling us about the body damage that the shop cause and I asked about a section of the car and you told me that was one of the places that got repaired.

So! I am just wondering what the problem was that the shop could not fix. Also, did you ask about what code the CEL set? I am sure that several of us would really like to know. I know I would.

Sorry if I seem to be digging a bit much, but I am just the type were a car breaking down is not good enough. I get all intriged and crap. It is just my nature to find the root cause of an issue.

That was all I remember also...I am almost thinking one and the same....so you like my quote huh....wanna know what is even funnier....a place that messed my cavalier up, did it while I was working at a radio station......need I say more........

The one that messed up the stang....yeah...well maybe maybe I did it, the clutch went south and would not engage and I had to slam gears and such and limp it to this shop that I THOUGHT was HALF WAY decent...anyhoooo, I was just meeting people and giving em advise about that one....oh yeah, the clutch was brand new, but, slipped like it was way bad.

AMANDA...they rescheduled the car show. I will try to figure out when.

And I thought everything was coo about the nats meet....we are still in a holding pattern now.

OOOOOOOOK!! Im bout upset now. I just found out, my car isnt gonna be ready till Friday. Not only was it the transponder, but when that went bad, it fried my CPU system. So we have to get another one of those too. Oh Rich, remember my husbands friend at the mercury place? Heheheee...came through for us with a computer!! YAY no more money has to be spent.
Anyways, the car was in the shop that damaged it, for doing the same thing it did to me last wednesday. The PATS light came on while we were driving it and it died. They were supposed to check the CEL but didnt. When we disconnected the - side of the battery, it worked again. All it really did was wipe out the code temporarily.Go figure. What was happening then is this. The transponder was goin bad at the time, but quit actin up. SOOOO..we let it drop. Thought it was because of the chip, but it wasnt.Since they didnt check my CEL last time, my CPU got fried. Go figure. Thank GOD my hubby has a friend at the dealership who can help us. Stupid mechanics. Now i really ought to see about harrassin those people and suing them for real. They caused me to lose work time and everything. If they had done a diagnostic like they were supposed to, this wouldnt be a problem now.

Amanda, do you have an aftermarket security system in the car? If you do, the mechanic at the dealer better double check the wiring. The only reason the transponder could cause a short that would blow the PCM would have to be shaddy wiring. [EDIT]Well it could have an internal short, but... I will have to look into it. Sounds like you have it in good hands. That is all that matters right now.

If not, then you have one heck of an abnormal problem. There have been people on here that have had problems with PATS, but it has mostly been loosing key codes or the keys got messed up.

If you don't mind, I am going to dig around in my manual and see what I can learn about this.

Alright, two more questions and I promise will leave it alone.

Could you ask the mechanic friend that is doing the work on the car for you, if he could tell you the code that he was able to pull... if that was possible.

Also, when the PATS light flashed on, did it flash in a sequence? If so and if you was able to catch it, what was it? I know it seems foolish, you are driving down the road and all of a sudden your car dies! Quickly you look at your dash to find a light flashing and take down the code. Only after all this, you then pull over.

If you did not get any of that, it's cool. Again, I am just a freak so forgive me.
