Yeah, mine does that too. It's been getting louder and louder all the time. I know it's the tranny cause when I push the clutch down while just sitting in nuetral, the noise slows down and stops. It sounds like a bearing in the input shaft area. So I'm starting to drive it easier, and am also starting to plan on saving for a new replacement. Junkyard trannies from across the nation (Internet junkyards) have been going for about 500-600 dollars delivered (for under 80,000 mi). I don't have the time to rebuild mine and can't have the downtime on the car, so that's why I've just decided I'd probably go with a replacement unit. Unless I knew for sure it was just a bearing (I might change just that part), but I am also worried that from driving it with that growl for so long, I haven't caused damage to a shaft or some other high dollar part.
