The transmission rattles at idle and when slowly acclerating...

Anyone else have this problem?

I haven't noticed it doing it while at idle, but my car does have a rattling kind of noise when I acclerate very gently in first or second at very low speed. It sounds like it's coming from the tranny, but I can't tell for sure. It's done this since it was new, 25,000 miles ago, so I'm guessing that in my case, it's nothing to worry about. Just one of those mechanical noises cars make sometimes.

The dealer checked it out last year...they found nothing wrong. (but that means very little)

Yeah, mine does that too. It's been getting louder and louder all the time. I know it's the tranny cause when I push the clutch down while just sitting in nuetral, the noise slows down and stops. It sounds like a bearing in the input shaft area. So I'm starting to drive it easier, and am also starting to plan on saving for a new replacement. Junkyard trannies from across the nation (Internet junkyards) have been going for about 500-600 dollars delivered (for under 80,000 mi). I don't have the time to rebuild mine and can't have the downtime on the car, so that's why I've just decided I'd probably go with a replacement unit. Unless I knew for sure it was just a bearing (I might change just that part), but I am also worried that from driving it with that growl for so long, I haven't caused damage to a shaft or some other high dollar part.
