Isn't life just fun... On the way home from work Thursday, having just gotten approval to go on vacation and thinking about how much fun the money saved up will make that possible, my transmision goes out. Granted my tour did have 147,000+ miles on it (2.0 ATX). There goes vacation. So I go car shopping on Friday.. found great deal... 2000 v6 5sp 6,959 w/ 29,000 miles daddy like.. arive at the dealer.. sorry it isn't here. DOH! Travel to Carmax and listen to the salesman trash talk contours and talk about how great the focus is...hmmm that lasted long... went to capital ford.. ins and outs... found v6 2.5 manual with 60,000 miles... hey sounds good price was stupid.. 6,900 yeah right.. talked down to 5,000 out the door. Bought an 800$ one year warranty (had to think hard on this one, that was stupid). Driving home..radiator hose blows engine overheats and starts making grinding mechanical noises.. Had the car for less than 1 hr and it already needed a tow back to ford. What a great weekend. If I keep the car I still have to switch out my BAT suspension <3000 miles on that.. my ICW 17inch wheels and my entire stereo sys with sub... I think it might have been easier to get tickets to the moon!

I dont mean to like an Ass but dont you know that the Water pummps on the V6 go out at about 60k. Thats what blew on ya. Once you get that fixed you will be good to go.Btw what color, year model did you get. post up pics once you get a chance.

I think it would have been easier to just go ahead and have a nervous break down. Sounds like some of my luck! You could have gotten the tranny fixed for around $2000, but I can see why you might have wanted to get another anyway. But hey!! Look at the bright side, you will have a like new Duratec when it is all over.

I look forward to posting some pics when I get everything switched out. It is a 1996 SE T-red. Ironicly, the same color as my 4cyl GL. You were right... it was the water pump. They threw in some extra maintenance while they had it. Doesn't sound like the ford service I am used to. Strange. Hopefully it won't take long to get everything hooked up

Sorry you had to go through all of that! But the new 'Tour is going to be one nice ride you get it back from Ford. Definitely post some pics!

Finally got it back. Ford acuatlly took the initiative to replace the thermastat when the temp still wasn't where they liked it. It is fun to drive. It feels like more than 170 hp. I wish my buddy with the 00 SVT was still around I am supposed to get the suspension and wheels switched on Monday. Circuit city wants over 170$ to switch out all stereo components! What a rape! Finally it stopped raining. Here is a pic. Obviously I was able to get the wheels and suspension switched out. Have a problem with the right rear rubbing the body. I need to take it back to where I had the suspension put in.
