What kind of car do they run the tests on? A Honda? A Subaru? Different makes of cars and even different families of engines within the same brand can have different styles of ignition sytems, each with it's own requirements. I think Ford knew the duratec's ignition and what it requires when they specified double platinum plugs. If the duratec could have gotten by with cheaper plugs don't you think Ford would have used them?
