This will fix that problem. Also, it will fix the "moosing" problem. If you don't have this, you will, and it sucks. The TH fix is the best mod you can do, and its free! Do it, you will notice a considerable gain in shift performance.

It sounds like you're also experiencing the "bang" shift as well. There's a thread in the Transmission forum about how to fix it, but basically there's an updated TSS (Turbine Speed Sensor) that you can get for less than $25 that will prevent the ATX from bang shifting when you let off on the accelerator right before a shift. The part is cheap and the procedure is easy, so head over there and take a look. Don't forget to get the correct part number for the new TSS, which is in the thread.

Moosing is a loud howling sound that can often occur after putting an open element air filter in our cars. Haven't heard it, but I'm sure it sucks. TH Fix - In a MTX: when shifting the RPMs will "hang" as you push in the clutch and reach for the next gear. It's only mildly annoying most of the time, but it actually makes for some rough shifting at high RPMs. In an ATX: I don't know of any other benefits other than killing the moose.

The moose affects cars with stock air filters/boxes as well. Believe me, you'll know it when you get it.

Putz,
TH is when you're accelerating...push in the clutch to shift, let off the gas..and the revs kinda hang up there before slowly coming down. Kinda like an 80's smog car.
Moosing...is an incredibly irritating and loud sound that is very apparent with an open filter. You're accelerating...everything sounds cool with your open filter, and as soon as you let off the gas...this moosing or moaning at just the right pitch which is irritating as hell comes out loud. Also happens when the AC or defrost gets turned on.
The TH fix will alleviate both in one fell swoop. And at <$1..its cheaper than a new AIC (or is it IAC)....

Putz has an automatic, he doesnt have to deal with throttle hang. And The moosing I've only noticed in cold weather. And yes you'll notice it when it happens. Sounds like a fog horn. Or in canadian terms.. it sounds like a hockey arena goal horn under your hood when you let off of the throttle. but again, I dont know if this happens with automatics. I paid 27 cents for my TH fix.
