Should also be noted that when the engine is cold and I start to drive I get a stuter in the acceleration, If I keep my foot on the gas in the same position it'll start moving then slow down a little followed a some serious power recovery. Question here is could this all be related to the quad 4 plugs that I installed? i say spend the time and $$ to switch out those plugs and see what happens...app's are less than $20 for 6, seems like it would be worth a shot. sounds like you might be experiencing some type of misfire caused by the plugs or the wires...you might change the wires too, but i would start with new plugs....btw- i know nothing of what i am saying- i went with the app764's the first time because they came highly recomended by other ceg'ers, and the +4's seemed to work ok for only a few people...guys at the auto store said something about poor quality control at Bosch=bad plugs.

OK, good, this is the type of info I was hoping would show up in this thread...thanks Demon and everyone else who chimed in. I haven't installed them yet, so I plan on going back to the store with these puppies and see what else they have. Sad thing is, this is a good autoparts store, one that I trust. They know my car, and these are the plugs they give me. Arrgh, time for a heads up for those guys, eh? I think we should be going to Bosch by now if this is the case. and Nick... just dont say things that you have no proof about take it easy friend, no arguments here. I searched, found positive results, and was not eager to have to bring my plugs back to the store. ya know?

Can some1 tell me how to do spark plugs on zetec? How do you set the gap? I know I need to buy a gap tool but then what? Any special way of removing wires(I know to remember which is which)? What socket size do I need for spark plugs (3/8?)? Why does removing the wires take an hour? Do I need a special tool for the wires?
One more thing, what is this about torque? Do I need a torque ratchet to put plugs in? How tight are they supposed to be? I don't have a torque ratchet, so I need to know by hand tight plus one turn or whatever. I believe that plugs on modern cars are 5/8". Just make sure not to break the ceramic when installing. It's not that difficult to do...

Just wondering. I pulled some autolite platinum pros(basically same as double plats) out of my car. They were in pretty good condition, nothing wrong with plugs, car just needs a little more loving and they would have looked perfect. Buy the gap checker that has wires for the thickness check, and they usually have 4 little metal notches that can open or close the gap on your plugs.

Here's a little light reading. I fly a bit and do some of my own maintenance on my dad's plane, and this is a pretty informative site. Plug Stuff

I am sorry if I came off strong on you there, it looked to me like you were telling me I was wrong. (Which I am not :p ) As for the parts store... I dont know just how well they know your car, but this whole problem with our ignition types is a little known "feature" that most people have no clue about, so I wouldnt think that they are completely ignorant about your car because they recommended the +4's. In fact, from what I hear from owners of other cars (specifially a 5.0 mustang enthusist) the +4's work great on 'normal' ignition systems... -Nick
