While Neo's face reflected genuine confusion, (We are talking about Keanu Reeves here) I do not recall the architect being hard to understand. Whether or not he spoke the truth is another matter.

I do not believe Zion fell. I believe the ships put up a fight outside Zion, and they were the ones that were destroyed. The machines have still not reached Zion yet.
