No. In the first movie, Morpheus said there was a man in the "Beginning" that freed the first of them. We now know that he is referring to the "one" that preceeded Neo. Remember, they've done this six times.
It's just a sadistic method of control for the machines. They give the humans this false sense of hope, and then go destroy it.
