Hey, thanks for the replies. I definitely want to get one with a metal impeller in there.
But get this, I'm so mad!!! The place I had it towed to (near my house.. been there before.. ) said they want to replace the WP, the belt for the WP, and thermostat for _$530_ ($135 for the WP, and they couldn't even tell me if it has a metal impeller). I may be a girl, but I'm not a complete idiot, thanks to info I got from this forum

I wish I had the skills and tools to fix this myself.
For anyone else interested in prices etc. I called Ford and they quoted me $300 for parts and labor. I called Pep Boys to check on the part price ($62.99), and they'd service it too for $205 total parts and labor.
So yes, I could have it done at one of those 2 places after another $60 in towing fees, but it'd still be under $530. Unbelievable. Anybody have strong opinions about Pep Boys? I imagine it's different from place to place though.
Thanks for listening to me grumble. But I don't need another violin.

I have a Contour V6SE with about 71500 miles on it. Still original waterpump. When I drove it tonight, after about 10 minutes I noticed the needle was way past the red. No lights came on, no warning sounds..?! I was lucky I noticed it. I had to drive for about another half mile then pulled over to look under the hood. The coolant was boiling and spilled over a bit. From reading the posts and FAQs on this forum (very helpful!) I'm thinking it's the waterpump.
