wow! sounds like mercedes answer to CVT trannies.
my parents' old Pontiac Parisienne Brougham used to do something similar to that "kickdown" they described. upon accelerating, the transmission would start in first and quickly jump to third, then to second, then to third again until finally settling overdrive (fourth). then sometimes on the highway it would jump from fourth to second for no good reason! LOL! what a system!!!
