Just as Hoosier's thread drops off..yet another. The rundown:

Car started to miss at low rpm off idle to 3000 rpm. Then cleared up and ran fine. Started on Saturday and I first though it was bad gas. I ran my tank out on the highway as much as possible then got a fresh tank of 91. I also threw in a bottle of tried and trued Heet. It still had the miss, and was very consistent.

I pulled the plugs last night to check for a fouled or soaked plug. All of them looked brand new and were still gapped correctly. They are new with only 8K miles on them. I always use anti-seize and dialectric grease. Car was not throwing any codes.

Today I changed the wires to my original set with 50K miles on them. Thank god I saved them. Never throw out parts!! Started the car up and took it for a drive. I could tell right away that the miss was gone!!! Kept driving to build some heat and still no miss!

So my Ford Motorsport spark plug wires only lasted 38,000 miles. Not too impressive! I am going to cut them apart tomorrow. I'll be looking into a new set of stock wires or some Magnecore's if Bill's price on the stockers is to high.
I will not be running FMS wires ever again!! Too bad MSD doesn't make Super Conductor's for the Duratec.

According to BAT's catalog, the FMS (Ford Racing?) wires are made by MSD. Stock wires are ~$94 + shipping from fordpartsonline (~$122 from my local dealer ). The Magnecor 8.5 mm set is ~$125 + shipping from BAT.

I'm gonna save up, run the original stock wires (46K mi & still running OK) for a while yet and then get the Magnecor's.

I'm curious to know, what plugs are you running?

I am curious too. I want to guess Autolites. Because that was what I was running. Please Do Tell. Split that boot and scan us a picture.

I am glad you guys are posting this info now considering I just put these wires on 3 weeks ago.

My luck with timing I guess. It will be interesting to see if more posts come along as more people get higher mileage on their wires.

Hoosier, Are you implying there might be some difference between the Motorcraft and Autolite spark plugs? My interest is piqued..,

Lets not get upset, we both had plug wires fail. Not the end of the world, but two cases in a month where it happened. So let continue looking at FMS wire sets. No need to get upset. I just was hoping I'd get more mileage on them. Your could be perfectly fine for 100k miles.

I've been running magnacores for over 5 years, they never failed me. OEM wires started acting up after about 20K miles on both cars.
