Philip,

If fuel is not leaking out, air is not "leaking in"! I doubt clamping the filter tubes will do anything. I can only think of three possibles to your "problem".

1. An injector is dirty and leaking after shutdown.
2. The fuel check valve attached to the top of the fuel pump has debris in it allowing pressure to bleed off after shutdown.
3. Hot weather is causing fuel to vaporize (hotsoak, there is a TSB about it) while sitting in the rail on top of a HOT engine. I'm not saying that is OK but, Ford told me to expect slightly longer cranking in hot weather.

EDIT: Philip...these are in reverse order of their probability.

Thanks ed, I poured some REGANE in my tank, and filled it up with good, expensive gas, if a dirty injector is not it, one of you's guys'es will have to walk me throgh checking the condition of the fuel pump. Oh well, i'll let you know.

oh and thanx to NateCox and Patrick, i didn't fully understand what you were saying...the car fires right up if i hold the key in ACC for 1 second before i turn it over....it just doesn't want to fire up imediatly if i go from off (after letting it set for some time) to start posistion.
Is this normal? or becuase i have to do this every time mean i still have a problem?

lol..side note, the guy at autozone told me to pour power steering stop leak in my gas tank to fill "microscopic fuel leaks"....i'm glad i didn't follow his advice, ha ha.
