i was just cheking out the v8 sho's and thought that the insurance would be just as bad as my contour then , i got to thinking(which i shouldn't do), and if you can do a 3L hybrid switch in a contour/cougar, why couldn't you beef up a taurus 3L with svt 2.5L parts? does anyone know if this has been done? just curious like george.

Just put the normal 2.5L parts in and it would still help. Only benefit of the svt is the cams. I've thought about this a bit myself and I say its a great idea.

svt cams, svt intake's,bigger maf, bigger throttle body, possibly svt heads,etc... svt taurus...it doesn't sound right but it sounds like it would be pretty cool. oh well maybe someday...

Yeah all that and a slush box to boot , not to mention the added weight. You can do it obviously, but if the idea is to go fast, its a step in the wrong direction

It wouldn't add anymore weight as you are just replacing one part with another of a different type. The bigger power will come from the higher compression and the better cams.
Of course if this starts happening the used SVT cams will become very valuable.

As far as a step in the wrong direction? If you are stuck with a certain type of car, there isn't anything wrong with making it faster.

The taurus is heavier then the contour, that is the added weight I was reffering to. I was thinking someone wanted to buy a cheap taurus to Mod instead of their Contour they may already own. But if you already have a Taurus, there is nothing wrong with adding those mods to it.

I was merely comparing Tour vs Taurus aspect of the situation

compare this---> svt contour w/ full coverage with about 7 or 8 speeding tickets compared to a taurus w/ full coverage. do you know how big of a difference there is? i do and it is a big one. and the added weight is because the car is bigger, not by much but have you ever put a child seat in the back of your tour? try it . i love my svt tour but i need to improvise cause of the more important things in life and it's not like i'll do it. i'm probable getting a freakin escort ....lx .....

FWIW, my SVT and SE premiums are the same ($350 for 6months each). I had two tickets and a seatbelt violation at the time too. May want to check other insurance companies.

I also have an Escort... its an LX too LOL The damn thing will not die though, 146k and still going strong. The only major work done on it has been oil pan gasket and timing belt. Looking to get it to 200k
