Just pull out the relay, check your owners manual for the number of the relay.

BTW keep in mind your drivers side flashing high beam won't work unless you put a jumper wire in

The procedure is illegal...yet I see so many post-1990s vehicles with no DRL.

Besides, who cares if you have DRL. The person's tail lights don't even come on (on most systems). People get too reliant on them thinking they have some lighting at dusk/dawn.

Just use your normal headlights during vehicle operation

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here, I just say the subject and wanted to help out. There is a little jumper bar in the fusecox under the hood that you can place instead of the relay. Shoot me a PM and next time I hit the junkyard I'll try to pick another one up. I just disabled mine yesterday.

It is illeagal in Ontario to have a vehicle manufactured after a certain year without DRL's. I think its 1992-95?? It violates the Highway Traffic Act Of Ontaro. Probably a $110 fine. Most stuff like that is.

I have disabled mine. There is a jumber bar that goes between two slots where the relay plugs into. If you don't have the jumper in place one of the hign beams doesn't work I believe. Do a search here, there was a picture floating around showing where it fits in the fuse box. You could do the same thing with two spade connectors and some heavy guage wire. Be careful though, I think it runs up to 30A, so you'll need an appropriate size.

I am smart enough not to drive without any lights. I always turn on my lights as soon as I start the car, its an old habit for an old dude. Sometimes in the winter I leave my car running to warm it up before I leave work at night. I like to have it running without lights in the parking lot so people won't notice it running and be less tempted to try to steal it.

If you drive around with no lights on you may get a ticket. I hate whiners who complain they got tickets for mods to their cars that violate the HTA. If you do this mod, please take responsibility for your actions. Don't do the crime if you can't pay the fine.

Lardy.

This January thread, and included link, maybe of interest. Link includes pic. DRL

Note: Providing this info does not constitute encouraging this as your first mod, since it could turn out to be your last one. Possibility of insurance being voided, should head-on fatality occur, and it's effect on your estate should be considered.
