A V6 MTX probably can do about 145 - 155, it's 30 HP shy of SVT power, so I'm guessing ~145.

LMAO. only thing i think every1 didn't point out (and good job pointing stuff out) is that zetecs are also governed at 112, atleast mine was... oo i better post my mod list at point of time i reached 115mph superchip code djk9 homemade intake removed exhaust res svt sway bar and then u said hector looked dumb. no need for me to elaborate on that one.

Between Mach 1.3-1.4
You couldn't even hear me coming...
BTW...
A 200 HP SVT tops out at 143-144 mph. Drag limited
It has a better CD than a regular Contique too.
Then ponder about what a car with a slightly higher drag and 30 less HP can top out at... "Un limited" of course...
Closed track, professional driver, contents may settle, pre-cooked weight, low & too the left...

Did it ever occur to anyone that the original question here was for a 98 Duratec ? Quote:
what is the top speed on a stock contour 98 duratec with a chip?...
Funny how everyone with a Zetec was responding, then everyone got into a heated argument about mods. Did this guy ever get his answer? Just food for thought in all of this congestion.

he prolly didn't unless he could sift thru all the bs ...some chips remove the speed limiter in which case i guess your car can go as fast as u can make it...otherwise we are held to a mere 110-115 depending on the car it seems...i've done 112 but bumped the limiter at 110
unfortunately some chips can remove the governor, but some cant...i was going to get a diablo chip several months ago when a member here opened up a webbusiness and had a good intro price on them...then he found out that diablo was no better at getting rid of the limiter than superchips...matter of fact there was a brief coke vs pepsi type battle here between the two chips and superchips eventually bacame the favorite again

The answere to the question as stated by Ford iteslf is 139 MPH for the v6 mtx. That is without governer. With the chip I can see a possible 142mph after adding the extra ten HP provided the premium fuel option is added. I didn't equate the ATX gear ratio factor in either. The gears are actually a bit higher which enables for better top end. Thnak you oh yea and I got my contour doing 210mph once but dont tell anyone around CEG. I added VTEC.
