Just an FYI, all Contours are R-134 refrigerant, not R-12 AKA "Freon". If your getting a kit, don't mix R12 and R134!

BTW: Freon is a brand name, like Fritos.

Mine does the exact same thing, revs up and down, so just recharging wil make this go away..

Also when the ac is on and im driving the temp meter is near or on the white area, or just before the N, does this have anything to do with that???

2000v6SE: Thanks for pointing that out. I forget R-12 still exists sometimes. Plus, I didn't know Freon was a brand name smile

MB: Yes, a recharge should do the trick as long as you don't have a leaky system. As far as your temp guage goes, when the A/C is on it forces the engine cooling fan(s) to stay on. This keeps the engine at a lower temperature. It used to be that running the A/C actually made an engine run hotter because the fan was belt-driven and there was only one. Now, there are usually two and they are turned on/off via the car's electronics. My car always runs cooler with the A/C on.

Yes, it needs a recharge. It isn't hard to do - I've become quite familiar with the process since my A/C has a leak (hope to have that fixed by next month). If you need simple directions, let me know and I'll help ya out.
I could use al the help i can get to recharge this so it will stop reving up and down

My compressor was fast-cycling indicating low charge. One 12oz can of R134a has it blowing ice cubes again. Only take a couple of minute to do. Add via the LOW pressure port near the battery side of the A/C line running across the radiator. Start car, turn A/C on MAXIMUM, connect charging hose, place refrigerant can in a pan of warm water and keep can upright so the system sucks gas - not liquid refrigerant.
