Max A/C is the only setting on the car that uses recirculated air. That rest pull in air from outside the car, but they hardly push out any air at all. We are having very wet, humid weather, so I can't de-fog my windows. The car is basically undrivable because I can't see where I am going. The door that opens and closes to pull in fresh air is malfunctioning. I was just wondering if anyone knows where this door is at, or have had this same problem happen to them? If so, what was the solution? Thanks guys.

Check out alldata.com for the blower resister recall. That might be your problem for the low air speed. My fan only worked on low and high before I had it fixed.
If the inside/outside air switch is working part of the time (on Max AC but not on defroster), it sounds like a resister problem again. Is your A/C charged and cold? Maybe the charge is low.

Might also be a badly clogged pollen filter.
I understand you DO get outside air on the lower settings of the fan, right? Just not very much. When the cabin air filter is clogged you get problems like this.
The filter should be replaced, not cleaned.
To access the filter iirc you have to remove the panel in front of the windshield, passenger side. I believe you have to move the windshield wipers to the up position and turn off the ignition to be able to access everything.

My Contour did that too. Especially bothersome when the windows would just fog up and you couldn't drive. Checked and cleaned my pollen filter. Still no air. Then I disconnected a vacuum actuated air valve under the dashboard (above gas pedal area), and moved the flapper valve the other way, the problem was cured. But about a year later, I got a RECALL notice from Ford saying they fix that problem (faulty actuator) for free! So while your there (only go to a reputable Ford Dealer), have them service all of the other recalls on the car (including the cooling fans and fuses that might burn the car down if not done)
