Just got back from a long road trip and lost a wheel weight along the way so I stopped at a local tire shop to have the wheels rebalanced. Long story short they broke the key before getting the tire off.

To complicate things there was a mix-up with the tire shop and they told me the broken key was in my glove box but instead it was disposed of (at the shop).

Any Idea I can get the darn locks off or the key code to order a new one? I have standard OEM ford wheel locks.

Thanks

Did you keep the papers that came with the locks ?
Your code is there and it is the ONLY place to get the code...

Ford uses McGard locks.
See:
http://www.mcgard.com/
They're located in Orchard Park, near Buffalo.
Check out customer support on the web site or give them a call. They should be able to help.

most wheel locks can be removed with the right tools....sometimes even a pair of vise grips will do the trick....

Well it would seem just like any other lock, you should be able to use some sort of tool to get the deapths of the slugs or something like that. In any case good luck!

A good tire shop will have a kit that allows them to remove most wheel locks. You'll need new ones when they're done, bud McGuard are only $30 CDN so no big deal. Make sure you're next set is a good one. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to take a car to the dealer to have the nuts cut, when the lock siezed due to rust.

I had wheel locks and no key after buying a car at auction - Discount Tire got them off, no problem.

I went to a couple of the local tire places and non of them could get the wheel lock off becuase the head of the lock was smaller than there kits. So I ended up takeing it to the local Lincon/Mercury dealer and they removed the wheel locks and provided replacment lugs..

FOR Free.. I may just have to change my sig.
