I had to put the bike in my car the other day ( I don't usually do that ) and despite being extra careful a smudge of black grease scrubbed the seat edge in the back !! It's been there for a week now, since I did not want to touch it before I knew what was the best way to remove it. Any help appreciated.

The dealership parts department actuall sells an upholstry cleaner that comes in a blue aerosol can. I don't have the name off hand but when my car was in the shop for the dash replace, they managed to get grease on my seat (greystone interior). They sprayed this stuff on and wiped it clean...perfect. You can't see anything and the upholstry didn't change texture at all. Great stuff.

I guess we're assuming that you have a cloth (non-leather) interior.

The best stuff I've found is RESOLVE carpet cleaner. Buy it anywhere...grocery store, walmart, etc..

Let it soak for about 5 minutes or so, then take super hot water and scrub it out. Wipe off the foam, scrub again, wipe remaining foam, blot dry. It should clean up perfectly!

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.

Try some Gumout carefully or mineral spirits (a hydrocarbon solvent) then follow-up in a day or two with a water based cleaner.
