I'm guessing he just won't ford streams in the car. That's about where my intake sits and I've never had a problem with rain

My friend hydrolocked his engine when driving thru a puddle and had a CAI with the filter in a simmilar place... Be careful! AEM(?) makes a small bypass adapter that you can put on pre-booster that will let air in if the filter becomes very restricted (i.e. submerged in a puddle). It cost only $40 and it could have saved him $2300 in a new engine... Of course he has one now!

Thanks for the enthusiasm folks, people were looking for inspiration for cold air intakes so this was what I did. The MAf is an 80mm pro-M from Granatelli that used to reside on a 500HP mustang. I got that along with the injectors to use with my turbo. Under the front bumber was the only place it would fit! lol
Water wasn't an issue with it. Its mounted above the factory electric horn so that seems to give a little margin of safety. The plastic shielding prevents it from getting up in there and I can always do like HonkeyTonkMonkey says and avoid the fording streams.
