anyone have the word on this? i hear tons of focaljet guys babbeling about it, they dont typicially make sense or flame me when i ask Is it the standard block with new pistons/rods/crank? anyone know how this one works?


Turbo'd Cougar 2.0L w/ 75 shot ... its got some stuff in it ... NOT that fast NOT that furious :P

I look at it this way....why would you want to swap out the whole engine for 18 HP (130 vs 148) and some more torque? Throw a T/C on a Focus and it won't matter if you have a 2.0 or a 2.3.

I do believe the aluminum 2.3 would weigh considerably less then the heavy Zetec as well.

There is a post on FJ about one running in the 14s with basic mods on slicks. I am not sure if I believe it though.

If I had a regular zetec and my engine blew up...I might look at it for sure. I plan to go FI in mine someday.

well see tahts what i was asking, is it just new internals for larger displacement or is it a totally new engine.

its all about the focus svt engine, get yourself 170 HP

this isn't JDM garbage, don't engine swap for 15 extra HP

It's a completely new engine -- a four cylinder Duratec, which means aluminum block.

The 2.3 is modified ford Ranger motor its modified to be a Praticulay Zero Emissions Vehical (PZEV) The motor looks like hell its all hosses wires, and cables , going ever which direction. This car is only going to marketed in three states and only have production of 40,000 units in its first year. This is not a performace motor it just happens to have more HP and Torque than the zetec. However modding this motor because of the emssions crap will very diffcult not only that it has 15 year 150,000 mile warrenty on it so i wouldnt want to mess with it just to keep that long ass warrenty.
