Doesn't the 4 cylinder have a plastic impeller, also?

They don't seem to have the same disintegration problems, so couldn't it be a matter of design and/or type of plastic, & not the fact that it's plastic itself?

If I remember correctly, I pulled a pump from the shelf the other day for a '97 4 cylinder - the impeller was plastic, but looked totally different - didn't have those fins - different design - looked more solid.
