Doesnt matter. The SVT is toast unless for some reason the Eclipse driver can't get into 2nd gear at all...

Those turbos are damn fast. No one would know, since they turned the new eclipses into wanna-be v6 mustangs (read: slow boats.)

There is a web site out there that showed how to make a dsm run 9's with a little over 6 grand. I'm sure it didn't last all that long tho.

Sure it does. Especially if this takes place at a track. I've staged against plenty of faster cars that spin all through first and second. That's why I always try my best, even though I'm up against some car that's just covered the stands with a hell of a burnout. I always count on them spinning or missing a shift.

My buddy owned a GS-T. He had full greddy cat-back 3inch exhaust, intake, chip, greddy type-s blow off-valve, boost controll, and some ignition mods. He was running mid to low 14's. The only chance an svt contour has is against a bone stock gs-t. When there modded like that he can miss 2nd and 3rd and prob still win.

FWIW, my fiancee's '92 Talon TSi (FWD, not AWD) with 160K mi. will eat my SVT for lunch and have enough time left over for dessert.

At our Michigan dyno day last weekend the shop guy dynoed his girlfriends stock 91 Eclipse with 128,000 miles and it put down something like 223hp to the front wheels! Bone stock! Those cars are definately under-rated.

I used to own a 96 GS-T. After I sold the Eclipse, everything I drove seemed slow. Those cars are totally underestimated.

My car only had an aftermarket parts (intake and Greddy exhaust) and I would eat most cars I raced at the track, even with some mild wheelspin. I would drop the clutch, and the car seemed like it would still get traction before my SVT Contour would.

I lost to a Blown Saleen Mustang, and a Porche 911 with a "racing" engine at the track. The guy with the Porche was like 57 years old and bragged about his "racing engine".

Don't race him unless you're thinking about racing him with a different car.

I did beat my friends Eclipse 02 GT by about 1 1/2 car lenghts with my SVT.
