Well, I took the 'tour to the shop today to have my A/C tested for leaks (as it wasn't working) and just got word that the evaporator coils are leaking as well as a line between the compressor and the condenser. Apparently, the whole evaporator assembly will have to be replaced, and it requires dash removal to get to it. Bottom line: $843.

Now to me, the evaporator coils are an isolated, non-moving part that's even sheltered from the elements. Can anyone say 'build quality'? Apparently its not Ford's #1 job!

Its summer, its hot & I'm annoyed - but for $843 I'll just have to live with it. Guess I'll just have to drive faster to keep cool! laugh

The evaporator is usually something that goes from the inside out. Usually if you have a leak and moisture gets in the A/C system it will corrode, thus the wrecker evap on a 4 year old car.
