I'm in the middle of a rebuild, so I would also like to hear what people have to say about the stab-o-shock replacments. I am going to replace all of my motor/trans mounts, but I'm wondering which way to go as far as the stab-o-shock.

can sagging drooping ATX mounts cause an ATX to fail over time?

If "Engine mounts and the roll isolators went bad..............ATX cars will lose the tranny mount - it will sag and the bottom of the tranny will bump the subframe...." Is this a problem?

Will a flexing tranny fail because of a worn tranny mount?

Will a flexing tranny and engine cause damaged to the torque convertor of the tranny?

Wheelhop on ATX cars can be mostly eliminated by filling the mount under the airbox with polyurethane. It is pretty sloppy and allows about 2" of vertical tranny movement. I'll have to check my lower/rear mount and see what it condition it's in, but from what I've read it a lot of work to replace that one.

Well AAmco recommends that I replace my Engine mounts. They can do it for a total of $750.00. I did a little research to find out why engine mounts/ATX mounts cost so much to replace and this is what I found out on the parts side.

MOUNT, Contour, Mystique, Right - 2.5L 95-97 $188.29 $150.63
MOUNT, Contour, Mystique, Left (Front), Auto Trans - 2.5L 95-97 $071.38 $057.10
MOUNT, Contour, Mystique, Left (Rear), To Crossmember, Auto Trans - 2.5L 95-97 $092.87 $074.30
MOUNT, Contour, Mystique, Left (Rear), To Fender Apron, Auto Trans - 2.5L 95-00 $111.59 $089.27

These above quoted prices comes from fordpartsonline and not from AAMCO for they did not give me an itemized estimate for this work just a grand total!!

Using the first figure from each mount listed above the four mounts total $464.13. Then subtract 750 from that figure and you get $285 for labor. I guess changing mounts takes a bit of time.

This morning I was going to drop the car off at AAMCO to have them do this work but just 100 feet two store from the AAMCO drive way I got side swiped and am now having the driver side review mirror replaced at my GEICO direct repair shop. Hmmm is this an omen or what. Guess I should not replace those mounts!!

Well is $750 too much to have the engine and ATX mounts replaced. The AAMCO tech did say that he heard a bump while testing the ATX that he attributed to weak mounts for he even said that the rear mount was very bad.

So I guess some time this summer I will have the mounts replaced!

Before you buy them mounts, call Bill Jenkins and see if he can get them cheaper. He gives 25% discount to us for parts.

The street link engine torque brace is a bit harsh. More vibration can be felt through the steering wheel. The brace works well for controlling wheelhop and generally helps hard launches.

Is that as "harsh" as it gets? Some vibration felt through the steering wheel? How else would you describe the harshness? Basicly, what are the pros and cons of having it over a stock one?
